Review: Pizza Hut - Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza

Pizza Hut's Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza is not really a pizza at all but is instead four baked squares of Cheez-It crust filled with either cheese or cheese and pepperoni. It comes with marinara sauce on the side.

I paid $6.99 for an order and went with the cheese and pepperoni filling.

The shell was slightly flaky and somewhat like a pie crust as a result. It is actually meant to look and taste like a Cheez-It cracker. Visually, it works but taste-wise, the crust was a bit lacking. While it sported the familiar orange of Cheez-It crackers, the cheddar notes were mild in comparison and the crust itself tasted a bit doughy.

The cheese inside had no flavor and, while somewhat melted, it didn't have any stretch and just broke easily when bitten into (i.e. it's a processed cheese and not a very good one). The pepperoni was diced like you'd find on a $1 frozen pizza and offered a light flavor paired with a soft, slightly gummy texture. The combination of the two did not go well with the flavor of the crust.

The marinara dipping sauce was watery with the standard notes of tomato, sugar, and herbs.

When it comes down to it, I did not care for Pizza Hut's Stuffed Cheez-It Pizza. The not-quite Cheez-It flavor and the filling were disappointing. Given the form and how it turned out, my guess would be that these are shipped frozen to each location. Regardless, it feels like something you'd buy in the frozen food section on the cheap but whiffs on offering the same guilty pleasure.
