Review: Subway - Pit-Smoked Brisket Sub

Subway's Pit-Smoked Brisket Sub features smoked beef brisket, smoked cheddar cheese, and zesty barbecue sauce on the an Italian roll.

A 6" sandwich cost me  $6.99. Mine also had onions.

My sandwich had three bun-length slices of brisket The brisket was moist and decently beefy with quite a bit of fat (which may have helped with the moisture as they're refrigerated with the rest of the sandwich ingredients and are toasted along with your sandwich when you order). There was a light smokiness. It reminded me a little of beef bacon but not as salty or intense.

The smoked cheddar cheese was nicely melted but I didn't pick up any smoky notes and it didn't feel any different than a regular slice of mild cheddar.

The barbecue sauce was applied very judiciously. There was just enough to contribute a balanced combination of sweet, smoky, and tangy without overpowering the brisket.

The onions added a watery crunch and just a bit of flavor.
Overall, Subway's Pit-Smoked Brisket Sub turned out decently by keeping it simple. In typical Subway fashion, they weren't very generous with the ingredients but there was just enough that it never felt like something was missing.
