Taco Bell Asks Fans to Choose Between the Return of Double Decker Taco or Enchirito

Taco Bell ask fans to choose between the return of either the Double Decker Taco or Enchirito by voting using the Taco Bell Rewards app through October 6, 2022.

Taco Bell Rewards app users can vote once daily and the menu item that wins the vote will return to participating Taco Bell locations nationwide "before the end of the year" but only for a limited time.

The Double Decker Taco is basically a crunchy taco (seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheddar cheese in a crunchy taco shell) nestled in a soft flour tortilla with a layer of refried beans to hold them together. It was first introduced in 1995 as a limited-time menu item but was added to the permanent menu in 2006 and then was eventually discontinued in 2019.

The Enchirito (for "enchilada-burrito") is basically a wet burrito (although they also put out one of those before) and consists of seasoned beef, beans, and diced onions wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla and smothered in a red sauce and melted shredded cheese. It was first introduced all the way back in 1970 (and also was topped with black olives back then) but was discontinued in 2013.

It should be noted that except for maybe the red sauce, each Taco Bell location already has the ingredients to make both food items.

The winning menu item will be announced on October 7, 2022.
