Review: Mtn Dew Fruit Quake Soda

Mtn Dew Fruit Quake soda features "Dew with a blast of artificial fruitcake flavor." It's a limited-time, festive flavor for the 2022 holiday season.

A 20-oz bottle costs about $2.29 but I received this courtesy of Mountain Dew.

The bottle label came decorated with graphics of pecans, red and green candied fruit, snow-covered houses, and a monster truck with fruitcake tires.

The soda had somewhat of a reddish brown, fruitcake-like color.

The smell that wafted out of the bottle upon opening was that of slightly-spiced, candied fruit.

In taste, Mtn Dew Fruit Quake offered a mildly spiced, fruit candy-like flavor but with a strange aftertaste that I think was meant to be reminiscent of the cake component. Despite the pecans depicted on the bottle, I didn't pick up on any nutty flavors.

Overall, Mtn Dew Fruit Quake feels like something to try for the novelty rather than something you'd regularly want to drink. It wasn't unpleasant but the aftertaste was a bit weird. I wouldn't say it tasted all that much like fruitcake.
