Review: Snickerdoodle Oreo Cookies

Nabisco's Snickerdoodle Oreo Cookies feature two snickerdoodle-flavored wafers sandwiching a layer of cinnamon-flavored creme mixed with green and red sugar crystals.

A 12.2-oz package was $4.49.

In addition to the green and red sugar crystals in the creme, the wafers themselves are speckled with tinier bits of red and green, which fits well with the holiday theme.

There's a moderate cinnamon aroma and mellow cinnamon flavor throughout the wafers and creme, which themselves have that slight underlying vanilla taste of sugar cookies and plain frosting.

I'm used to snickerdoodles being soft and chewy and Oreos being crispy so, if I didn't know what they were, the crispy Oreo wafers with a cinnamon flavor wouldn't have had me thinking, "Oh! This is a Snickerdoodle Oreo." I would have probably just guess it was a spiced Oreo of some sort.

Overall, Snickerdoodle Oreo Cookies felt more like "holiday cookie" Oreos than anything. While there was a cinnamon-y quality about it, it was overshadowed by the frosting-like feel of the creme and a vanilla-tinged sugar cookie flavor (granted that a snickerdoodle is basically a cinnamon-sugar-covered sugar cookie). Still, it's an enjoyable cookie that adds an extra bit of crunch, holiday flair, and flavor to what is otherwise a Golden Oreo.
