The burrito costs $6.49 at my local Taco Bell, but is also available as part of a $9 Discovery Luxe Cravings Box that includes the burrito, a Chicken Chalupa Supreme, a Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese Sauce, and a medium fountain drink, so I paid the extra $2.50 for a lot more food.
According to Taco Bell, the Flamin' Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito is meant to be "cheesier" and "spicier" than its predecessor, the Beefy Crunch Burrito. With the extra layer of melted cheese on the outside, it's definitely cheesier but I can't say it's any spicier. While the Flamin' Hot Rice gave the fillings a bold red hue, I picked out some grains and found the flavor to be surprisingly mild given the visuals. Mostly, it just added texture and filler.
I took my paritcular burrito on a short drive home to eat it and the Fritos were throughly softened. They provided a bulk of the savory and spicy Flamin' Hot flavor as well as a hit of fried corn.
The sauces (Creamy Chipotle, nacho cheese, and sour cream) were mostly lost amid the Flamin' Hot, seasoned beef, and grilled cheese flavors.
Overall, I liked Taco Bell's Flamin' Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito a fair bit. The Flamin' Hot flavor goes well with the generally beefy cheesiness and there was a decent variety of textures. However, if you consider that they tested a $2 version of almost the same burrito earlier this year, minus the grilled cheese (the price is in line with the regular Grilled Cheese Burrito, however), the Flamin' Hot Grilled Cheese Burrito is quite pricey and makes getting the $9 combo a no-brainer.
