Why is it called a club sandwich? Aren't club sandwiches layered with three slices of bread and held together by toothpicks? Subway has a club sandwich that isn't really a club sandwich as well. What's up with that?! It's a travesty I tell you.
Anyways, as ze Germans would say, the BK Breakfast Ciabatta Club is "nicht gut (Yes, I took three years of German in high school and that's all I got.)." Frankly, it's too tomato-y. Putting tomato in a breakfast sandwich seems like a pretty good idea, but somehow Burger King got it wrong here.
Perhaps, it's the combination of the smoky tomato sauce combined with a fair amount of sliced tomatoes that overpowered the rest of the ingredients. There was a good amount of bacon and ham, but I couldn't taste them too well over the tomatoes.
Beyond that, the Ciabatta bun was pretty soft with not the slightest bit of crispness. It's somewhat dense and I'd rather have an airy English muffin. I wish more fast food restaurants would toast the bun closer in time to assembling the sandwich.
For around the same price, I'd rather go for a BK Breakfast Bowl or a Croissan'wich.

I think it's the best thing that BK has had on their breakfast menu in years. But then I LOVE the tomatos on a breakfast sandwich. Good bread, too. Pretty sophisticated for the King.
ReplyDeleteI tried this sandwich for the first time today. Overall I thought it was pretty tasty - I didn't find the tomato flavor too overpowering. I agree, however, that it would have been better if the bread were more toasted. Also, it was smaller than what I expected from the picture.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! I just ate this and thought they could have done a way better job. Toasty bun and less tomato for a start!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the tomato "sauce" like? Is it a mayo varient?
ReplyDeletePretty much.
ReplyDeleteHaven't had this yet, but I will say... that looks pretty good at least; maybe just the ingredient proportions are off some.
ReplyDeleteThis does not look good...
