Review: Sonic - Chicken Strip Dinner

Sonic Chicken Strip Dinner
Listed as a local favorite on the Sonic website, Sonic's Chicken Strip Dinner contains a bit of something for everyone and includes 4 chicken strips, fries, Texas Toast, a country gravy, and an onion ring for $4.99.

One of the better dishes I've had at Sonic, the chicken strips while pretty crispy, lack sufficient seasoning and can be dry. The neutral seasoning makes them good for dipping though.

The Texas Toast, which I was looking forward, wasn't very toasty. It was rather soft which meant it had probably been toasted or grilled a while before my carhop dropped it off. The country gravy was fine as well. It was fairly thick and a little peppery. I figured it was for dipping the chicken strips, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the case.

The fries were just okay and weren't particularly soggy or crispy, falling somewhere in between. One onion ring is a nice touch. It was crispy enough, but I didn't like that the breading was a bit too far on the sweet side.

In sum, Sonic's Chicken Strip Dinner is a decent selection of various Sonic menu items meant for big eaters and the indecisive.

  1. I had that dinner a few times before my forced food exile into the nether regions where veggie piles replaced fried goodness.

    Sniff. Sob. Moan. Groan.

Life quality has greatly declined along with the size of the fat cells I drag along.

    Groan. Moan. Sob. Sniff.

Nowadays a tremendous treat is sprinkling a small amount of shredded cheese upon my salad. A salad with low-cal Italian dressing and even that is used extremely sparingly.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

For a fast-food offering the chicken strip dinner was decent.

The gravy worked well as a dip for chicken chunks and the potato slabs AND the toast.

If you were a regular who tipped the to-your-car delivery human I noticed an increase in the number of fries within the box.

A decent meal that assisted the one shoveling in the Alaska-sized calorie and carb content face outdoor working on a frigidly cold winter day especially when wind-chill plummeted the "feel-like" temperature to well below zero.

I haven't eaten the chicken strip meal for..... golly.... many years now.

    Sniff.

    I am old.

    Will begin withering soon.
