Review: Pizza Hut - Meaty Recipe Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza

Pizza Hut's latest limited-time pizza, the Meaty Recipe Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza is a hand-tossed pizza (up to 3 toppings) with a crust stuffed with mozzarella cheese, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage for $12.99.

The Ultimate Stuffed Crust Pizza is also offered with a Pepperoni Recipe (also $12.99) pares down the stuffing to just cheese and pepperoni.

For toppings, I decided to just repeat the stuffed crust with bacon, pepperoni, and sausage. The flavors complemented each other quite nicely. I was initially worried when I ordered that, with three salty meats, the pizza would turn out too salty but a bit of discretion (or cheapness. I'm not sure which) in topping usage resulted in a pizza that was just the right amount of salty. Pizza sauce was used quite sparingly.
As you can see from the pictures, the crust takes up a few bit of real estate on the pizza.

Pizza Hut's hand-tossed pizza dough comes out of the oven with that soft, dense, fresh-baked bread flavor. It has a hint of sweetness and a consistency that, while not having all the character of typical pizza dough, is still very enjoyable. It especially works well in it application as a stuffed crust where it feels like a warm breadstick filled with melted mozzarella and meat.
Similar to the Cheesy Bites Pizza, I really liked it and could just eat the crust as an entrĂ©e onto itself.

  3. "Pizza sauce was used quite sparingly."

I wonder to what extent the upsurge in tomato costs and thus, a likely increase in pizza sauce with its ample usage of tomatoes, affects the sparse use of sauce in your pizza?

In the "old days" I would order "light on the sauce" pert-near everywhere due to the, to me, more than ample use of sauce wherever I grabbed a pizza.

Pizzas HAVE changed over the years with the ongoing corporate cost-cutting measures industry-wide likely to blame.

    Sigh...........

Oh how wondrous were the pizzas we produced at Round Table back in the late 1970s. Pizzas to be proud of and we had a LOYAL customer base.

A couple bucks more expensive than the competitors but our offering was worth the extra bucks.

    Sniff.

If you are in an area that offers it OR, if traveling, and you notice an "unusual" topping offering; linguicia, try it!!!

It is Portuguese sausage and it is a GREAT pizza topping!

I prefer the crumbled style over the sliced type but both are good.

It is the bestest topping in my opinion.

    Yummy maximus!!!

Oh... another fine interesting review from one of the bestest food-related blogs in town!!!!!
