Review: Sonic - Bacon & Blue Dog

Sonic's Bacon & Blue Dog features a all-beef hot dog covered in crisp bacon, shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and blue cheese dressing on a poppy seed bun.

It's $1.99 a pop and a fairly recent addition to Sonic's hot dog line up.

The Bacon & Blue Dog is a bit like a salad served atop a hot dog except with not enough lettuce (or a BLT with blue cheese dressing and not enough lettuce). More lettuce would have better balanced the stronger flavors of the smoky bacon, hot dog, and creamy blue cheese dressing.
The blue cheese dressing was pretty mild; a bit like ranch dressing but with a touch of blue cheese. The hot dog was quality, the bacon was crunchy and the veggies was fresh and crisp.  I just didn't feel they went well together with all these strong flavors.

Still, it's a decent hot dog, I'm just not a fan of the flavor profile. I think more lettuce and diced tomatoes would have mellowed decent into something good.

  1. The one I bought had zero taste to it. And I'm a man who loves his Sonic coneys! Tried this one once because I love any burger that is Bacon & Blue, but this concoction just didn't do the trick. Never bought it again

Just for fun, follow the link and mentally replace the words "nose job" with "hot dog."

    Yeah, I know.

I need to get a life but just wait until YOU are a Disgruntled Old Coot dwelling in a shanty surrounded by a herd of human vermin.
