Review: Jack in the Box - Bacon Shake

Jack in the Box's Bacon Shake is part of their Marry Bacon promotion along with the BLT Cheeseburger. All they need to complete the trifecta are bacon fries...

The shakes blends real vanilla ice cream, bacon-flavored syrup, whipped topping, and a maraschino cherry.

I picked up a 16-ounce "regular"-sized shake for $2.79 and wasn't quite sure what to expect...

So good news... if you really like bacon, Jack's Bacon Shake really, really tastes like bacon; it tastes more like bacon than some of the bacon put on fast food burgers. It has the smokiness, a bit of that char flavor; it's like bacon without the texture. It is really weird how much it tastes like bacon... like if you took cooked bacon and pureed it and blended it into a vanilla milk shake.

The shake itself was pretty thick and creamy. It was missing a cherry but I don't care much for maraschino cherries anyway.

But unless you really think bacon and vanilla ice cream would be the bee's knees, the Bacon Shake tastes really weird to me. After the novelty of "Wow! It really tastes like bacon!" wears off, I didn't quite find myself enjoying the shake.

But yeah, bacon-flavored syrup... wow!
