Review: Burger King - Steakhouse King

Burger King's Steakhouse King features two quarter-pound flame-grilled beef patties, 3 half-strips of thick-cut bacon, A.1. Thick & Hearty sauce, crispy onions, melted American cheese, and mayo on a toasted sesame seed bun.

I picked one up for $5.99.

For the most part, the Steakhouse King comes off as a big, very meaty, moderately cheesy burger. The other components added light accents to its general meatiness. In width, it's the same as a Whopper, which is to say it's noticeably wider than most fast food burgers.

The onions and bacon contributed a light crispiness but were equally light on flavor. The A.1. sauce was mostly tangy and slightly smoky and came on strong in some bites but managed barely a whimper in others. The mayo helped mellow out the tanginess of the A.1.

For the most part, I enjoyed Burger King's Steakhouse King as a big meaty, cheesy burger tinged with just enough of this and that to keep it interesting. Still, it they replaced the A.1. with barbecue sauce I'd probably like it better as a Western cheeseburger.
