Review: Healthy Choice - Simply Steamers Beef Chimichurri

Healthy Choice Simply Steamers Beef Chimichurri features beef strips with potatoes, green beans, and red bell peppers in a chimichurri sauce.

A 9-oz box was $2.99 on sale.

The Simply Steamers line is so named because the ingredients are cooked in a steam tray over the sauce and then combined after cooking.

The chimichurri sauce very tangy and slightly citrusy with a medium heat. A traditional chimichurri typically has strong parsley and garlic notes (with vinegar for a bit of tang) and this version was mostly parsley and lemon notes tinged with a light savory quality and a decent spicy kick. It's a bit too sour for me but it's not bad.

The beef strips were moist and lightly seasoned. They had a nice meaty chew to them but were tender enough.

The green beans were tender but retained just a touch of waxy resilience, while the red bell peppers were overly soft and felt similar to sun-dried tomatoes minus the oil. I could taste the green beans but not so much the bell peppers. The potatoes turned out decently. They were soft but not mushy and had some browning that suggested they were oven-baked at some point.

Overall, I enjoyed Healthy Choice's Simply Steamer Beef Chimichurri. The beef and veggies were pretty good for coming out of the microwave but I would have preferred a better balanced sauce here.
