Review: Jack in the Box - Chicken Breakfast Jack

Jack in the Box's Chicken Breakfast Jack features a crispy breaded chicken patty, a fresh-cracked fried egg, and a slice of American cheese on a toasted buttery bun.

They're being offered at a promotional price of two for $3 (or $2.39 for one in my area).

The bun was nice and soft, with a pleasant feel to it due to the egg-wash and was slightly less dry as a result. The American cheese was melted thoroughly and offered the typical mild and creamy notes.

The chicken patty was slightly crispy and moist inside. It had a salty chicken flavor and is very similar to what you might get from baking a frozen Tyson's chicken patty. The fried egg was cooked all the way through (pretty standard for fast food) and offered the a few crispy edges from frying. Unfortunately, the combination of the chicken patty and the egg did not mesh, and the already mild flavors of both proteins ended up competing with each other.

As far as fast food offerings go, the Jack in the Box Chicken Breakfast Jack meets expectations value-wise but the chicken and egg were not complementary. I would have just rather eaten an egg and cheese sandwich and/or a chicken sandwich separately.
