Review: Arby's - Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Arby's Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich features a buttermilk breaded chicken filet, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo on a toasted star-cut bun.

It's normally $3.99 but I bought this when they it was included in the two for $5 special.

The current version of Arby's take on the standard crispy chicken sandwich came about in 2016 but I've never written about it so here we are (apparently I haven't tried their crispy chicken sandwich since it was the Cravin' Chicken Sandwich long ago).

Visually, the crispy chicken filet, on this occasion (while I haven't had their baseline crispy chicken and have tried the buttermilk chicken filet before), sported a breading that reminded me of something you might find in a frozen dinner. It looked a little too smooth for fried chicken but fortunately, it was nice and crispy. There was a mild, seasoned flavor to it and the chicken inside was decently tender and moist. The filet was a little on the thin side but provided pretty good coverage of the width of the bun.

The bun was soft but sturdy and cradled the chicken nicely.

Beside the chicken and bun, the mayo was spread in a thin layer, the lettuce was crisp, and the tomatoes were firm but not under-ripe.

Overall, Arby's Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Sandwich was just solid all around. It checked the right boxes and each component was well-balanced.
