Review: Taco Bell - Flamin' Hot Doritos Locos Taco

Taco Bell's Flamin' Hot Doritos Locos Taco features a taco shell seasoned to taste like Frito Lay's Flamin' Hot snacks and comes filled with the standard Taco Bell combination of seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese.

I paid $2.19 for one.

The taco shell offered a savory combination of spicy heat and powdered cheesiness that went pretty well with the seasoned ground beef and cheddar cheese within. It was decently crunchy and wasn't as heavily powdered as Flamin' Hot Cheetos or Flamin' Hot Doritos, by which I mean to say that it doesn't leave your fingers with an even film of seasonings. It was quite spicy for me and my nose started to run a little as I finished it.

The seasoned beef, lettuce, and cheddar were pretty standard for Taco Bell. The beef was soft and heavily seasoned. The lettuce was crisp enough for a light, watery crunch and the cheese was decently moist without too much in the way of anti-caking powder.

Overall, Taco Bell's Flamin' Hot Doritos Locos Taco turned out pretty well. It adds an extra level of spicy, savory, and cheesy flavor to the classic crunchy taco without overwhelming the seasoned beef. I much prefer it over the just-as-spicy Fiery version that they discontinued as I like the savory cheesy quality of the Flamin' Hot version over the lime of the Fiery one.
