Review: Stouffer's - Sweet Chipotle Meatloaf

Stouffer's Sweet Chipotle Meatloaf features beef and pork meatloaf in sweet chipotle barbecue sauce with tangy chipotle corn on the side.

I paid $2 on sale for a 11-oz box.

The meatloaf is about the same size and oblong shape as their regular meatloaf. However, for whatever reason, it wasn't as browned as the original meatloaf. It didn't affect the quality though--the meatloaf was still soft with a coarsely ground texture and meaty flavor.

The sauce felt like a honeyed ketchup with a rounded tangy sweetness but lacked the spicy and smoky notes normally associated with chipotle. If there was any smoke or heat, it was very light. The sweet barbecue sauce thickened rather nicely and clung to the meat very well.

The corn turned out firm and crunchy. It was a little sticky with a tartness to it that felt like lime. As with the meatloaf, I didn't pick up on much in the way of smoky or spicy notes. While corn is a familiar accompaniment for barbecue, I wasn't a fan of the tanginess (I'm guessing it's supposed to cut against the sweetness of the sauce). I would have preferred the corn plain or replaced with something like seasoned beans or traditional mashed potatoes instead.

While it wasn't bad, Stouffer's Sweet Chipotle Meatloaf isn't much of a departure from their regular meatloaf and while the sauce for the meatloaf was nice enough, the flavor of the corn wasn't enjoyable.
