Review: Tastykake - Chocolate Swirls

Tastykake Chocolate Swirls feature "filled pasty rolls with chocolate bits." They're basically a chocolate-filling version of the brand's Pecan Swirls.

A 6-oz package of six rolls is normally $1.99 but I received these courtesy of Tastykake.

If you're never tried these kind of mini rolls, they're a little denser than a typical cinnamon roll but are still soft and fairly pliable (if you're careful, you can unroll it like some Bubble Tape).

There's just enough chocolaty filling to form a very thin layer in the roll's swirl that's fairly mess-free. It's good enough for a moderately sweet, slightly dark, chocolate flavor. Texture-wise, it's fairly tacky and didn't leak out when I bit into it.

With the chocolaty filling, these get pretty nice and gooey if you stick one in the microwave for about 10 seconds.

When it comes down to it, Tastykake Chocolate Swirls are essentially a combination of chocolate spread and bread that make for an enjoyable snack.
