Review: Jack in the Box - Chicken Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich

Jack in the Box's Chicken Cheddar Biscuit Sandwich features a biscuit with cheddar baked into it plus a crispy-fried chicken breast filet, a fresh-cracked egg, a slice of American cheese, and "buttery" sauce.

I bought one for $4.79.

The biscuits were not good. Rather than a crispy or even hard crust, the surface of the biscuit was just dry and quickly gave way to a spongy and dense crumb that was largely, like supermarket white bread, flavorless. Visually, I could see orange flecks of melted cheese in the biscuit, but neither cheddar nor a cheese flavor or texture came across my tongue while chewing on it. Basically, the biscuit was nice to look at but was pretty plain in terms of taste and texture.

The chicken was remarkably thick and moist with a nice, crispy crust. However, it was only very lightly seasoned, which is fine for dipping but there's no sauce here to help out in that respect. It might actually be the same filet as you find in the Cluck Sandwich rather than a smaller size.

The egg was fairly standard for fast food, which is to say a little overcooked. It offered some crispy bits from frying.

The cheese was thoroughly melted but I didn't really notice the buttery sauce.

When it comes down to it, Jack in the Box Chicken Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich was too plain for my liking. The Cheddar Biscuit wasn't much different from their regular biscuit and the mellow flavor of the chicken was really wanting for some sort of sauce to give a bold element to the sandwich.
