Taco Bell Tests New Proprietary Plant-Based Protein in New Cravetarian Taco

Taco Bell is testing what they're calling a "proprietary, all-new boldly seasoned plant-based protein" as a vegan/vegetarian alternative to their seasoned beef. The new plant-based option is featured in the new Cravetarian Taco and available at one location in Tustin, CA (not too far from their HQ).

Taco Bell's Cravetarian Taco (the name is a blend of "crave" and "vegetarian") consists of the new plant-based protein (made from a pea and chickpea blend), shredded cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and reduced-fat sour cream in a crunchy corn taco shell (it's essentially a Crunchy Taco Supreme but with the new plant-based protein instead of the normal beef.

The Cravetarian is AVA-certified vegetarian ("AVA" stands for the American Vegetarian Association), while the new plant-based protein is AVA-certified vegan.

You can find the Cravetarian Taco during the test at the Taco Bell restaurant located at 14042 Red Hill Ave., Tustin, California through April 29, 2021, while supplies last. It'll cost you $2.19 per taco. While it's available, you can also substitute the new plant-based protein into other menu items for no extra cost.
