Long John Silver's Tests Plant-Based Fish and Crab Options

Long John Silver's partners with Good Catch, a maker of plant-based seafood, to test the new Plant-Based Breaded Fish-Free Fillet and Plant-Based Breaded Crab-Free Cake at five locations in California and Georgia, while supplies last.

The Plant-Based Breaded Fish-Free Fillet offers a tender, flaky whitefish-like texture with a crust of a crispy-fried breading, while the Crab-Free Cakes have a crabmeat-like texture and sweet crab flavor accented with sweet peppers, green onions, parsley, and a kick of spice.

Good Catch uses a proprietary six-legume blend (peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava beans, and navy beans) as the base of their products to create a texture that's meant to be similar to the flakiness of seafood.

Long John Silver's meal options for the new plant-based seafood includes a Plant-Based Platter (two Fish-Free Fillets, two Crab-Free Cakes, and two sides), Fish-Free Fillet meal (with two sides), and Crab-Free Cakes meal (with two sides). The Fish-Free Filets and Crab-Free Cakes are also available as a la carte add-ons to any meal.

The five locations offering the new plant-based seafood menu items are located at:

- 52 Bullsboro Dr., Newnan, GA
- 1805 N. Slappey Drive, Albany, GA
- 3801 Ming Ave., Bakersfield, CA
- 7228 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento, CA
- 406 W Shaw Ave., Clovis, CA

According to Long John Silver's, the new menu additions mark the first plant-based seafood offerings by a national chain.
