A Berry's Lovers Dozen is normally $16.99 near me but I received these donuts courtesy of Krispy Kreme.
The Mixed Berry Cobbler Donut features a shell donut with mixed berry cobbler filling, topped with more mixed berry cobbler filling, shortbread crumbles, a drizzle of brown sugar icing, and a dusting of powdered sugar.
The Mixed Berry Cobbler Donut felt less sugary versus the other two donuts with a moderately sweet berry jam flavor throughout from an even spread on top that intensified at the center. The shortbread crumbles added a nice buttery richness as well as a decent crunch (although I fear that your mileage may vary as the crunch or lack of really depends on how long the crumbles have been sitting). The brown sugar icing and powdered sugar didn't add much in terms of flavor besides generic sweetness. The donut itself was pretty fresh with a good amount of softness, moisture, airiness, and bounce/spring to it.
The Blueberry Cheesecake Donut features a shell donut with blueberry cheesecake filling, dipped in blueberry icing, and finished with shortbread crumbles. The donut portion was similar to the Mixed Berry Cobbler with the same qualities and texture. The blueberry cheesecake filling felt more like cream and blueberries with a decided shortage of tang and blueberry flavor. The blueberry icing was similarly light on the blueberry front but plenty sweet. The shortbread crumbles were even crunchier here than on the Mixed Berry Cobbler Donut.
Finally, the Strawberry Shortcake Donut features a glazed Sour Cream Cake Donut dipped in strawberry filling and topped with shortbread crumbles, a vanilla buttercream swirl, and a strawberry drizzle. With the glaze, the Sour Cream Cake Donut was sweet enough on its own. It had that denser moist cake texture and a slightly hardened crust. The strawberry filling and strawberry drizzle added more sweetness and a mild strawberry flavor, while the "vanilla buttercream swirl" seemed indistinguishable from Original Kreme (i.e. vanilla creme filling). As with the other two donuts, the shortbread crumbles added some rich, buttery flavor as well as some crunch.
Between the three Krispy Kreme "Pick of the Patch" Berry Donuts, my favorite was the Mixed Berry Cobbler Donut as it seemed the least sugary and the most berry-forward of the bunch, while retaining a similar amount of textural contrasts. Also of the three berry donuts, it hit the closest to its respective namesake.
