Taco Bell Opens New Restaurant with 4 Drive-Thru Lanes and a Second Floor Kitchen

Taco Bell recently opened a new restaurant in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota featuring a 4 drive-thru lanes with a second-story kitchen above them. It uses a "propriety vertical lift" (i.e. a dumbwaiter) to move food from the kitchen directly to the customers below.

The restaurant opened on June 7, 2022 and they're calling the new, future-oriented design, "Taco Bell Defy."

One of the drive-thru lanes is dedicated to traditional drive-thru traffic (i.e. you order at the menu board and pay and pick-up at the window), while the other three lanes are for pre-order and delivery pick-ups.

For the "pickup" lanes, you grab your food directly out of the dumbwaiter:

In addition to the 4 lanes, the new Taco Bell restaurant also has an indoor walk-up counter as well as self-serve ordering kiosks. There's no seating available inside however.

According to Taco Bell, "Taco Bell Defy boasts many features that could show up in future Taco Bell restaurants in the US."
