Review: Taco Bell - Loaded Truff Nacho Fries

Taco Bell's Loaded Truff Nacho Fries feature a bed of seasoned fries topped with marinated steak, reduced-fat sour cream, shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, nacho cheese sauce, and Truff sauce.

An order was $4.89.

The Loaded Truff Nacho Fries is the same as the Steak Reaper Ranch Fries they previously offered only with Truff hot sauce in place of the Reaper Ranch.

The Truff hot sauce offered a rich, savory truffle flavor to go with a slight tang and medium dose of heat. It went really well and added a sense of newness to what is otherwise a familiar mix of regular Taco Bell ingredients and flavors.

The seasoned fries were lightly crispy. The shredded cheese, sour cream, and nacho cheese added a mild creaminess and flavor as well as texture. The tomato was good for some texture as well but was pale and devoid of flavor.

The steak turned out pretty well. It was tender and moist, while still retaining a slight meaty chew with a lightly seasoned, mildly beefy flavor. It felt better than my previous steak encounters at Taco Bell.

Taken altogether, Taco Bell's Loaded Truff Nacho Fries were a welcomed surprise in the flavor department at Taco Bell as the Truff sauce added a welcomed element that meshed really well with the other ingredients while also enhancing them. Truff sauce seems like it would go really well in a burrito or bowl. It's a pity that it's only here for a short run.
