Wendy's Testing Black Bean Burger

Wendy's is currently testing their new vegetarian Black Bean Burger featuring a black bean patty and a multigrain bun in three select markets: Salt Lake City, UT; Columbus, OH; and Columbia, SC.

The sandwich consists of a black bean patty, pepper jack cheese, tomato, spring mix, and parmesan ranch sauce on a toasted multigrain bun.

The black bean patty's main ingredients include black beans, wild rice, farro, onions, brown rice, carrots, quinoa, corn, green bell peppers and red bell peppers, with seasoning from red wine vinegar, chili peppers, cumin, sea salt, oregano and cilantro.

Rather than on a grill, the patty is cooked in an oven, which also keeps it from contacting the grill used for hamburger patties.

The multigrain bun features nine different grains and seeds including sesame seeds, red quinoa, and rolled oats.
