Frozen Friday: Stouffer's - Farmer's Harvest Roasted Chicken & Bowtie Pasta

Stouffer's new Farmer's Harvest line of frozen meals feature slightly more upscale ingredients such as sea salt, olive oil, and whole grains as well as no preservatives. The Roasted Chicken & Bowtie Pasta entree features roasted chicken and bowtie pasta in a basil pesto sauce with a medley of carrots, green beans and grilled red peppers in a butter sauce.

The price is the same as Stouffer's normal entrées at about $3.99 a box or ranging around $2 on sale.

The name "Farmer's Harvest" seems a bit off to me and makes me think of something a bit more rustic other than sea salt, olive oil, and whole grains. This particular box featured just olive oil and sea salt and not whole grains. I can understand the use of olive oil but sea salt to me is sometimes just a difference in texture and other times, there's no difference at all.
The pasta portion was a little bit overly salty for me. I could have eaten the vegetable medley in conjunction with the pasta to balance out the saltiness but I didn't. There was a decent amount of chicken in the meal and it looked like it had been grilled or cooked with some dry heat resulting in a very nice color to the chicken pieces. The pasta itself wasn't quite al dente but still decent and the sauce wasn't too heavy or green.
I liked how the vegetables turned out; they retained a good bit of freshness and texture instead of being overdone and soggy as is often the case.. I could see that the red peppers had, in fact, been grilled at some point. I wouldn't say it was very buttery though.
Overall, I'd get this one again but would be sure to eat the vegetable medley between bites of the pasta.
