Review: Burger King - Chicken Fries Rings

Burger King's Chicken Fries Rings offer a new ring shape to their classic Chicken Fries.

I bought an order for $3.19 (and picked up an order of Chicken Fries as well for comparison's sake).

If you're wondering if you get more food with one or the other, both boxes had a very similar heft to them, which is to say, both were really light compared to say... anything else on the menu. The Chicken Fries Rings box is just slightly more squat and wider than the Chicken Fries box:

The flavor and breading are exactly the same as regular Chicken Fries. You get the same corn meal-ish, crispy breading with a light seasoning of black pepper, onion and garlic powder, and some herbs thrown in. There's also a lot of salt to them, especially as an end note.

As for the chicken inside, it's mostly smooth, fairly moist, and somewhat spongy. It's like most chicken nuggets but with less meat, given the smaller size. The rings are flattened so that they're wide but thin.

As far as dipping goes, the rings can just barely fit into the the sauce cups if you bend them a little. Otherwise you'll need to bite them or break them to get a good helping of sauce (if that's what you're going for). I wouldn't call it "optimal" though. You can get a lot of sauce by scooping it with the flat rim of the ring though.

Overall, if you like Burger King Chicken Fries but would like to see them in a different shape, Chicken Fries Rings might fit the bill. That being said, the original Chicken Fries feel a just little meatier since the rings are flatter.
