Review: Lay's Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup-Flavored Potato Chips

Lay's Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup-flavored Potato Chips are a limited-time item meant to taste like the classic comfort food duo.

A 7.75-oz bag carries a suggested price of $3.49 but I received this courtesy of Lay's.

The brand describes the flavor as ""a dynamic combination of tomato taste and buttery cheese with underlying creamy and toasted notes." I don't know about the toasted notes but there's a robust, slightly creamy tomato soup at work here that is joined by a milder but cheesiness. For the most part, it does indeed taste like tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

The flavoring went pretty well with the underlying thin and crispy potato chip without overwhelming the taste of fried potatoes.

Overall, I'd say it's "mission accomplished" for Lay's Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup-flavored Potato Chips. If you're looking for a portable, snackable take on the two, these are here for the eating.
