Review: McDonald's - Pumpkin and Creme Pie

McDonald's Pumpkin and Creme Pie features a dual piping of pumpkin pie filling and creme in a baked turnover-style pie.

I went to a McDonald's that were selling these for 99 cents each or two for $1.59. The Pumpkin and Creme Pie is a seasonal item that's offered in select markets. As far as I remember, it's never been offered on a nationwide basis.

The pumpkin portion turned out pretty well with a definite pumpkin taste that was accompanied by a measured amount of the requisite spices.

The creme portion is a cream cheese-based "vanilla creme filling" that's not particularly vanilla-y or tangy but made for a good stand-in for whipped cream or marshmallow creme. It mellowed out the fairly strong pumpkin pie filling with a light creaminess.

The crust is your standard pie short crust but with a delicate thin layer of sugar. It's just a touch crumbly and flaky with a light crispness.

If pumpkin pie with topped with whipped cream is your jam, McDonald's Pumpkin and Creme Pie offers something good in that area. Also, it's pretty cheap, mess-free, and convenient versus buying a whole pie or baking one.
