Jack in the Box - Mac & Cheese Bites

Jack in the Box's Mac & Cheese Bites feature nuggets of macaroni and cheese covered in batter and deep-fried until crispy.

I paid $4 for an order of six Bites.

True to the name, you can easily eat one of these in one bite, which makes them a little pricey and you can polish off the whole order in quick fashion.

My batch was pretty fresh and each Mac & Cheese Bites came with piping hot filling of creamy cheese sauce with small tender macaroni pasta. There was a mild American cheese flavor throughout.

Beyond the filling, there was a thick, crispy shell to each Bite with a relatively smooth fried batter texture.

I'm not sure I'd go with the default buttermilk Ranch for dipping as it's piling creaminess on creaminess. Ketchup or mustard might be the way to go for some contrast.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Mac & Cheese Bites turned out pretty well with crispy crust and a melty, oozy interior that brings to mind the comfort dish you might want on a cold day while watching Saturday morning cartoons (which, sadly, don't exist anymore).
