Review: Popeyes - Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich

Popeyes' Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich features a hand-battered, crispy-fried chicken filet, new Buffalo Ranch sauce, and barrel-cured pickles on a buttery brioche bun.

I bought one for $5.99 (which is 50 cents more than their regular Chicken Sandwich).

The new Buffalo Ranch sauce was basically a spicier, tangier, dill-inflected Ranch. It's more Ranch than Buffalo sauce with a medium-low heat that seemed less spicy than you'd find on their regular menu Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It went well with the fried chicken filet but wasn't terribly different from what they already offer on the menu (It doesn't seem a bad idea if they just offered the Chicken Sandwich without sauce to pair with your choice of dipping sauce for variety).

Beyond the new sauce, the chicken, pickles, and bun are the same as you'd find in the regular Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was generously-sized and moist with a light, crispy, flaky crust, the pickles were crunchy and less sour than the typical fast food pickles, and the bun was soft with a slight richness.

Overall, Popeyes Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich was tasty, well-made, and enjoyable but didn't add much in way of new flavor versus the chain's regularly offered Chicken Sandwiches but ends up costing more.
