Popeyes' Oreo Cheesecake Cup consists of a round, individual-sized cheesecake in a cup featuring a "thick and rich" cheesecake filling mixed with Oreo cookie pieces sitting on top of a crust made with Oreo cookie pieces and topped with more Oreo cookie pieces.
I got one for $3.79.
The Oreo wafer pieces atop the cheesecake were soft and mushy like the Oreo crust beneath the cheesecake. They seemed to be more for visual effect rather than added flavor or texture. It might have been nice if they included a packet of crushed Oreo to sprinkle on top to add some crunch to the dessert.
There were little specks of chocolate Oreo wafers in the cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was moderately creamy with a fairly strong tang to it and slightly bittersweet, chocolaty notes from the Oreo wafers. It lacked the vanilla flavor of Oreo cookie sandwiches as only the chocolate wafers portion seem to have been included.
When it comes down to it, Popeyes' Oreo Cheesecake Cup was good for only half the promise of an Oreo in cheesecake form as it lacked any elements of the vanilla creme filling. As it was, I got a fairly run-of-the-mill packaged cheesecake with the addition of slightly bitter, chocolaty notes. You can probably find something fairly similar at the supermarket (although maybe not in an individual serving).
