Review: Wendy's - Junior Bacon Cheeseburger

Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburger takes a small square hamburger patty, adds two small, thin slices of hickory-smoked bacon, a slice of American cheese, a fistful of hand-leafed iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, a spread of mayonnaise and sticks it between a toasted egg bun.

This little baby was a mainstay of mine back in my high school days.  It was 99 cents then and is still 99 cents now as part of Wendy's Super Value Menu.  It's the same size as their Kid Meal Hamburger hence the Junior.

You may notice this particular burger missing the tomato; I don't like tomato with my Junior Bacon.  Now that I think about it, I'll usually get a BL over a BLT.  Mmmmm... bacon and lettuce...

The bun is fairly dense and a little sweet.  The sister-in-law thinks Wendy's bun are too dense and overpower the other flavors especially in Wendy's smaller burgers.  She prefers the softer, thinner sponge dough of McDonald's buns.  But I like the little bit of sweetness inherent in egg buns; it gives Wendy's burgers a more distinctive flavor.

Wendy's Junior Bacon is small in size but the ingredients have good flavor although it could use maybe a tad more beef.  Then again, it doesn't cost much and is comparable to other 99 cent options.  The bacon on this one seems to be almost paper-thin but the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger does it right for me.

These sandwiches were worth a dollar, just to get a good look at how thin Wendy's can manufacture a meat patty.
