Review: Jack in the Box - Breakfast Pita

Jack in the Box's new Breakfast Pita doesn't offer something new beyond a whole wheat pita to the breakfast sandwich mix, but it offers enough differences to merit consideration. Jack's Breakfast Pita features your normal breakfast accouterments (bacon, scrambled eggs, ham, American cheese) stuffed inside a whole wheat pita. The price on it is $2.79 or just a little more than Jack's other breakfast sandwiches.

Since Jack thankfully serves breakfast at all hours (I am not a morning person), I tried one of these in the afternoon. I'm not sure if it's the norm, but I was given salsa with my order.
I was surprised that the pita held together yet was warmed and not chewy. The sandwich itself is filled out quite nicely; mostly with fluffy, scrambled eggs (in case you want a change from Jack's normal fried egg), thin fast food-style bacon and ham.

I thought it was going to be pretty salty with the bacon and ham, but there was so much egg that it balanced out so that some bites were almost bland due to uneven bacon placement.
The salsa was also a welcome addition; it really made the Breakfast Pita pop giving it a bit of that huevos rancheros flair. It definitely brought a little excitement to the norm.

This was my number 2 favorite breakfast sandwich 1989-1994, topped only by Carl's Sunrise on a toasty English muffin.
