Review: Kraft - Jet-Puffed Stackermallows

Kraft's new Jet-Puffed Stackermallows eschews the traditional puffy, cylinder for a flatter, rectangular pillow shape ideal for making S'mores so I decided to make some S'mores with them.

I received this 8-ounce bag free from Kraft but they normally cost around $2.29.

Marshmallows taste more or less the same to me; I've even tried expensive hand-made artisan ones (courtesy of samples at Whole Foods) and they still taste the same. I don't know. Maybe they were softer? I'm really not sure.
Kraft's Stackermallows are nice and soft as well. A giant one would make a nice edible pillow. Well, until the heat from your head starts to melt it, covering your head in a gooey, sweet mess.

For S'mores I went with Honey Maid graham crackers and a Hershey's Symphony bar over the standard Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar. I like the Symphony bar for it's melt-in-you-mouth creaminess.
Assembly is easy enough: two square half of graham cracker, one Stackermallow, and two rectangles of chocolate.
I initially followed the suggestion on the package to microwave for 10 seconds but the marshmallow didn't puff enough and the chocolate didn't even start to melt. And my microwave is fairly powerful. I varied the time a little bit and decided that 15 seconds was the best setting without risking a marshmallow explosion in my microwave.

You'll want to play around with the microwave time yourself since they tend to vary from oven to oven by a fair bit.
The resultant S'more is convenient and tasty. The main benefit of the Stackermallows is obviously the shape which covers the chocolate and graham cracker more evenly, is easily stacked if you want more marshmallow gooey-ness, and won't roll away from you. Honestly, I just like that they look like soft, little pillows.

  1. No offense, this is your blog after all, but this seems to be getting to be more and more of "Brand yogurts, desserts, smoothies, drinks, crackers, etc." Are you on a diet? A sugar binge? Haha, how about a review of that new taco bell XXL burrito? Desserts, sweet snacks, and drinks are great, but we need savory fast food too!! :)
