Review: Sonic - Pumpkin Pie Shake

Sonic's Pumpkin Pie Shakes come around in the fall for a limited-time and feature ice cream, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and pie crust pieces blended all together and finished with whipped topping and more pie crust pieces.

I picked up a regular 14-ounce shake for $2.69.

Taking a sip, I enjoyed a decent spiced pumpkin pie flavor on my initial taste. As I pushed my straw further down, I got some crust and it was not good.
The pie crust was crumbled up into small bits that could be drunk with a straw. They were rather soft (a bit shortbread like) and chalky with a strange flavor that didn't blend well with the other ingredients. I was hoping for a more standard, slightly crunchy crust like I got from Dairy Queen's Pumpkin Blizzard but alas, it was not to be.

Fortunately, the pie pieces sank to the bottom and I skimmed the top half of my shake to avoid them.

I think I would have enjoyed this one a lot more without the pie crust pieces.
