Review: Arby's - Arby-Q Sandwich

Arby's has returned the Arby-Q Sandwich for a limited-time at participating locations. The sandwich is basically an Arby's regular roast beef sandwich but the roast beef is drenched in barbecue sauce.

My local Arby's has it for the promotional price of two sandwiches for $4.

I like the buns at Arby's a fair bit. They're more bready than other chains and work well with roast beef. Plus they look nice!

I've mentioned before that I'm not a fan of the paper thin cut of Arby's beef. I feel it lacks that beefy texture that I want. I like the roast beef flavor though, especially complemented by some Horsey sauce.

With the Arby-Q, I wasn't a fan of the barbecue sauce at all. It lacks a good smoky flavor and was bit vinegary and very salty. I missed out on a lot of the roast beef flavor because I could only taste barbecue sauce.

I think with a better barbecue sauce (and there are so many out better ones there), I would have liked the Arby-Q a lot better.

  1. Two  bucks apiece.

With the cost of grocery store vittles so high and meat far from cheap and bread... whoever though a loaf of bread, or buns of any type, would ever be so dern' expensive?!!!

And the ever-decreasing size of vittles containers.

Soup cans are nearing the sub-micron level.

I'll tell ye you young whippersnappers... for the longest time vittles containers were the same size until some high-paid yahoo got the "smart" idea of making container sizes smaller.... smaller... until some day those containers will just disappear altogether!!!

Anyway... considering costs of create-your-own-at-home grub a fast-food offering of a buck or two is a deal.

However, if eating a couple of those Arby-Q critters is 800 calories that's over 1/3rd of a human's suggested calorie eatin', less if a chap or chaplet is physically active or is burning up extra calories fending off frigid weather, etc.

For an old fart such as I with a reduced metabolism and forced to refrain from activity a couple Arby-Qs may be half of my calorie needs!!!!

So cut portions size or refrain.

    Sniff.

    Sob.

Too bad Arbys doesn't slop atop the grub a sauce more pleasing to the palate as stated by our intrepid taster/commenter.

Perhaps a deluge of messages from the masses would compel the greedy vermin within the Arby corporate structure to spend perhaps a penny or two more per sandwich to  sate the desires of customers.

Doubtful due to the bonus lust of the suits infesting "corporate."

Another good review and accompanying pics.

And my forced to quell urges and nibble at the low-cal low-carb small portions of the bland boring foodstuffs allowed to slither into my aging decrepit body.

    Sniff.  Sob.

  2. I agree. I love Arby's, but being from Kansas City, I'm somewhat of a BBQ snob, and these are just plain awful. To me it just tastes like they use KC Masterpiece, which should be barred from using KC in their name. I think these would be much better if they drenched the roast beef in the regular Arby's sauce. Very unique, and quite tasty.

  3. These are just okay for me. I think half a price as the current price would be more reasonable considering this is far from the best BBQ experience I've had. If the sauce tasted more like...BBQ sauce and the beef was thicker it would work better. Maybe Arby's should redo this sandwich the same way Burger King redid their fries.
