Review: Papa John's - Cinnamon Knots

Papa John's Cinnamon Knots feature twisted baked dough topped with cinnamon and drizzled with icing.

An order of 8 knots was $5.

For whatever reason, Papa John's baked knots turn out much crispier than their pizza. There was a crispy crust/shell to each knot, while their pizza crust tends to be soft unless you ask them to bake it "well done." Maybe's it's due to moisture from the cheese? Whatever the case, the Cinnamon Knots offer a much better texture than Papa John's pizza crust. Besides the thin crunch, there's a soft, warm, and moist chewy crumb.

Beyond that, the Cinnamon Knots include a moderate amount of cinnamon sugar and gooey sweet icing. It's a fairly tried and true combination that works out to nicely here. Cream cheese icing might be better but would probably also be more expensive.

Overall, Papa John's Cinnamon Knots were really good. They offer a fresh-baked alternative to cinnamon rolls but with an enjoyable crust.
