Review: Taco Bell - Mini Skillet Bowl

Taco Bell's Mini Skillet Bowl features seasoned crispy potatoes, scrambled eggs, nacho cheese sauce, and pico de gallo. It's basically the breakfast version of the chain's Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes.

The mini bowl is part of their $1 breakfast value menu. It comes in a pretty small bowl (perhaps slightly smaller than its daytime counterpart).

Taco Bell's rendition of a breakfast scramble is heavy on the potato. For the first time, my crispy potatoes were actually crispy, so that's a plus. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you're potato happy), the potato-to-egg ratio tilted notably towards the potato side. The eggs provided a nice, soft texture but there's not all that much of it to go around.

Besides the seasoned potatoes, most of the flavor came from the pico de gallo, which added a welcomed fresh tanginess. The cheese lent a mellow creaminess.
Overall, Taco Bell's Mini Skillet Bowl didn't do enough to set itself apart from Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and didn't quite feel breakfast-like enough for me. It's basically like Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes with pico del gallo instead of sour cream. Just a little sprinkle of bacon might have helped here but adding any meat is not even an option in their mobile ordering app for this one. I'll stick to the A.M. Crunchbowl (I guess it's the Breakfast Crunchbowl now) for my breakfast scramble cravings at Taco Bell.
