Review: Blue Bunny - Bunny Tracks Load'd Sundae

Blue Bunny Bunny Tracks Load'd Sundae features vanilla ice cream with caramel and fudge swirls, topped with chocolaty-covered peanuts and chocolaty peanut butter bunnies.

An 8.5-fl oz cup was $1.49 on sale.

I was struck by how soft the ice cream was right out of the freezer compared to regular Blue Bunny ice cream. It was smooth and basically like soft serve.

The caramel and fudge were fairly liquid with a good amount of flavor and sweetness to them.

The chocolaty-covered peanuts seemed to actually be peanut clusters rather than whole, halved, or chopped peanuts. There was a bit more crags and edges to go with the crispiness. In contrast, the bunnies were smoother and creamier with just a bit of peanut butter. The slight hollowness imparted a bit more give versus solid chocolate fudge.

Taken altogether, I appreciated all the various flavors and contrasting textures but liked Blue Bunny's Bunny Tracks Load'd Sundae a lot less than I should have due to one issue. It feels weird to be writing this as I've never encountered this problem with any other frozen dessert product, but there was just too much sauce and toppings and not enough ice cream. In particular, the caramel and fudge swirls largely drowned out the enjoyable soft serve-like ice cream (the peanuts and bunnies played a part in this as well). The end result felt like I was eating sauce and toppings with ice cream and not ice cream with sauce and toppings.
