Review: McDonald's - Blueberry Muffin

McDonald's Blueberry Muffin features a muffin with blueberries and a streusel crumb topping.

I bought one for $2.19.

This wasn't too different from a supermarket bakery muffin. It had that softness to the crust that you get when you wrap bread in plastic.

The streusel crumb provided a slightly different, crumbly, somewhat moist texture but no crunch. The muffin itself was soft and fluffy but also soggy at some points due to the blueberries bleeding out into the crumb. The blueberries themselves had a slightly weird flavor--like they added some extra fruit juice or flavoring to it.

Taken altogether, McDonald's Blueberry Muffin was just mediocre. It's not bad per se but there isn't any particular enjoyable quality that sticks out about it. It's my least favorite of the three McCafe bakery items that McDonald's introduced last year and the easiest to make at home of the three (you can even microwave one in a mug whereas you'd want to fry an apple fritter and bake a cinnamon roll for longer).
