Review: Pumpkin Spice Oreos

Pumpkin Spice Oreos are a new seasonal flavor featuring vanilla Oreo wafers sandwiching a pumpkin-flavored creme filling.

I picked up a 12.2-oz package for $2.88.

In case you're wondering, the creme is artificially flavored and contains no pumpkin. Still, the smooth, thick texture is a reasonable if not more cohesive substitute for pumpkin pie filling and it actually tastes like pumpkin rather than just the spices that come with. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger flavors are there too; there's a little bit of a gingerbread feeling to it.

Just as the creme provides a stand in pumpkin pie filling, the vanilla wafers stand in lieu of pie crust and perform admirably with a light vanilla flavor and solidly crispy crunch.

Overall, Nabisco's Pumpkin Spice Oreos are really quite good. I'm not saying it's just like pumpkin pie, but whoever came up with these managed to capture a similar, but wonderfully different, spirit.
