While I liked the simpleness of the burger, Wienerschnitzel's chili is too watery and one note salty for me. One of my friends really likes it, so I guess it might fall one way or the other for some. I, for one, would like more tomatoes and spices. I think it might have to do with costs, but I would pay more for better chili.
Other than that, I was surprised by the thickness of the burger patty which was unusual for a cheap fast food burger. It was nice and meaty. Unfortunately, it was also ground way too finely which gives it a very mushy mouth feel that I've never encountered at a fast food restaurant. I wonder if my local branch grinds their own beef?
I think my next burger from Der Wienerschnitzel shall have to be sans chili, because it really isn't doing it for me.

You and I are often on the same wavelength with fast food. Wienerschnitzel's chili is not bad by any means, but I find it watery and just bland. About a year and a half ago they had a chipotle chili dog that I thought was okay, certainly a lot better than the regular chili. But not anything special.
ReplyDeleteRallys / Checkers has a chili-cheeseburger I like. Have you tried theirs?
ReplyDeleteWhat I really want to do is smack Wendys - I love their chili and their burgers. Come on Wendy! Make it happen!
(Although at certain times of day / locations I have received watery Wendy's chili, so that would need to be addressed.)
I've never been to Rally's or Checker's, there aren't too many around here in LA. I think I've seen maybe one.
ReplyDeleteWienerschnitzel's chili is awesome in there burgers and hot dogs. I'm sure I wouldn't want to eat a bowl of it, but it works here. I used to be addicted to the chili-cheese burgers.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I think that puts you squarely in my friend's camp.
