Frozen Friday: Banquet - Chicken Nugget Meal

Banquet frozen meals are pretty much at the bottom of the frozen food hierarchy. Retailing at about $1 a pop (I saw it last week for 69 cents on sale) it's really for the budget-minded but the quality suffers a bit. The Chicken Nugget Meal comes with five breaded chicken nuggets, a side of corn and a side of macaroni and cheese.

This meal in particular really reminded me of the cafeteria food I ate back in elementary school. It's not altogether appetizing but it feeds the belly. The nuggets were grey dark meat, with a bread crumb breading and tasted exactly like I remember from the cafeteria. I didn't hate it but I wouldn't say I liked it either. But I will say that breaded chicken nuggets have never been something I jump up and down for.
The corn was like they froze the reject kernels from their batches; they were a bit desiccated and a little tough instead of juicy and firm. In eating it, I couldn't help but feel I was eating something someone didn't want.

The mac and cheese was actually not bad and was perhaps the part of the meal I halfway liked. But I think I liked it because there wasn't that much cheese. Processed frozen and reheated cheese sauce is nicht so gut as ze Germans say so the less of it there is, the better it is in my book.
This is really "there's nothing to eat in the house" emergency food.
