Review: Sonic - Grilled Cheese

Sonic's Grilled Cheese is a value menu item that combines two slices of their thick Texas Toast with melted American cheese for $1.19. It's also an option as the main entrée for a kid's meal with a side, drink, and toy for $3.29.

There aren't any surprises with Sonic's Grilled Cheese, it's really not something you can screw up. Well, at least not badly. I guess you could if you burnt the bread and/or the cheese but that would be due to inattention more than anything.

There was a reasonable amount of American cheese and it was nicely melted. The Texas toast had the slightest of butter flavor to it and a nice buttered color to go with. The crust (the stuff that some kids like to have cut off because they don't like it) is a bit too thick and flavorless but not unexpectedly so. The rest of the Texas toast was nice and squishy soft save for the grilled sides.

This is really your standard grilled cheese sandwich. Sure, you could make something similar at home but sometimes you're out and about and just want some grilled cheese and there's that Sonic sign...
