Review: Jack in the Box - Hearty Breakfast Bowl

Jack in the Box's Hearty Breakfast Bowl features scrambled eggs and bacon and sausage crumbles on a bed of hash browns, topped with shredded Cheddar cheese and white Cheddar cheese sauce for $2.99.

I was surprised by how much food they put in one bowl of Jack's Hearty Breakfast Bowl. Hearty is a very apt description. There must have been at least two eggs worth of scrambled eggs and the bottom of the bowl was lined with crunchy hash brown sticks.
The white Cheddar cheese sauce was a bit weird in consistency; somewhere between a nacho cheese dip and melted cheese. It provided a strong flavor that usually lacking with fast food cheeses. It's similar to the white cheese sauce that Burger King uses with their breakfast bowl. Between the meats, the cheese, the eggs, and the taters, there's a lot of flavors and textures going on in the bowl.
The Hearty Breakfast Bowl seems to be made to order as opposed to BK's warmed mix. The overall flavor is more traditional breakfast as opposed to BK's southwestern flavor. Both are good but different.

At $2.99, it's a little more expensive than the similar BK Breakfast Bowl ($2.79) but you get a lot more food and it's fresher.

  1. I found out this week that J in the B no longer sells the hearty breakfast bowl. That was my fav menu item! What prompted them to discontinue it? BRING IT BACK!

  2. No more hearty bowl, then I don't go to Jack anymore.
