Del Taco Reworks Carne Asada and Unveils New Carne Asada Fries

Del Taco has upgraded their carne asada (grilled steak) with a new seasoning profile and is grilling it to order in each restaurant.

According to the chain, the new carne asada features a more Mexican-inspired seasoning with onion, garlic, chili powder, and a hint of lime. The previous version had more of a black pepper flavor. They've also upgraded to chuck steak, which is meant to be more tender, flavorful, and juicy than the previous cut of beef.

To accompany the new steak, Del Taco now offers new signature roasted chile salsa.  A spicier salsa, it's made with toasted chile de arbol, smoked chipotle and smoked California chilies and blended with tomatoes and roasted onion and garlic. It's not just for steak though and can be added to any menu item.

The new steak is featured in four items:

- Carne Asada Street Taco - Carne asada, new roasted chile salsa, sliced avocado, chopped onions, and cilantro on two corn tortilla. It carries a suggested price of $2.29 (may vary).

- Epic Carne Asada Burrito - 4.5-ounces of carne asada (compared to 1.5-ounces for the street taco), pico de gallo, guacamole, pinto beans, and rice wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. It goes for $6.29 (may vary).

- Carne Asada Combo Burrito - Carne asada, grated cheddar cheese, pinto beans, and red sauce wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. The suggested price for the burrito is $4.49 (may vary).

- Carne Asada Fries - Crinkle-cut fries topped with carne asada, diced tomatoes, guacamole, and secret sauce. These are priced at $4.99 (may vary).

To encourage trial of the upgrade steak option, Del Taco is offering a coupon for a free Carne Asada Street Taco with any purchase for members (including new members that sign up) of their Del Taco Raving Fan eClub.
