Papa John's Tests Ancient Grains Gluten-Free Crust

With rivals Domino's and Pizza Hut already offering gluten-free crust options, Papa John's is testing their new Ancient Grains Gluten-Free Crust in select markets.

The new crust is only available as a small pizza and is being offered at a promotional price of $9.99 for a 2-topping pizza (normally $13.50).

The thin and crispy crust is made from a blend of ancient grains that includes sorghum, teff, amaranth, and quinoa. It's made in a gluten-free environment before being shipped to each location. While Papa John's has procedures in place to prevent contact with gluten, it's still possible for the crust to come in contact with gluten during the normal preparation process (like, say, from flour in the air).
