Review: Kettle Brand - Wasabi Ranch Krinkle Cut Potato Chips

Kettle Brand Wasabi Ranch Krinkle Cut Potato Chips feature ridged, wasabi ranch-flavored potato chips.

These go for about $2.99 per 8.5-oz bag but I received this courtesy of Kettle Brand.

Like all kettle-cooked chips, Wasabi Ranch Krinkle Cut Potato Chips offer a substantial crunch with an extra bit of texture from the ridges.

Flavor-wise, these aren't too salty and strike a nice balance between the wasabi and ranch flavors. You get that spicy horseradish-like bite from the wasabi--it doesn't get to sinus-clearing levels but it's notable. The ranch flavor is fairly moderate with savory herb-y notes and not a lot of tang. Oddly enough, the flavors don't mesh. I'd taste wasabi and then ranch and then wasabi but not really a mix of the two.

Overall, Kettle Brand Wasabi Ranch Krinkle Cut Potato Chips turned out pretty nice. I'm somewhat indifferent to wasabi as a flavor in general but I liked the interesting wasabi-ranch combination here.
