Potatoes Returning to Taco Bell Starting March 11, 2021

Potato bites are coming back to Taco Bell nationwide starting March 11, 2021. Additionally, the chain plants to partner with Beyond Meat to come up with a new plant-based protein that will be tested in the next year.

With the return of potato bites, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes and the Spicy Potato Soft Taco will be back on the menu (for a suggested price of $1 and $1.49, respectively). You'll also be able to customize other menu items to add or swap in the potatoes. Taco Bell's potato bites are AVA-certified vegan.

Potato Bites were removed from the menu last year along with a number of other items as the chain streamlined their menu during the pandemic. The move miffed more than a few vegetarians as it left beans as the only vegetarian-friendly substitute for meat at Taco Bell.

The new Beyond Meat plant-based protein marks the first attempt at adding plant-based meat in the US for Taco Bell. The chain has been notably adding seasoned pulled oats in some European countries as a plant-based protein option. Beyond Meat does have some experience with plant-based taco "meat" as they're the provider for Taco Bell competitor Del Taco.
